Moodymann is the brainchild of legendary Detroit techno and deep house guru and CEO of Mahogani Music, Kenny Dixon Jnr.
The band are meant as a continuation of Arthur’s father, Simon Jeffes’, 1970s avant-pop band The Penguin Cafe Orchestra. The band’s original formation served to band together a disparate but immensely talented group of musicians to perform material written and recorded by Simon Jeffes, 10 years after his passing in 1997.
Arthur inherited his father’s talent for composition and began constructing a contemporary and distinctive sound to apply to the inspiration he had been brought up with as a child.
